New Mexico’s “Monsoon Season” officially arrived this July. What a blessing it has been to get so much rain.
For the last few months, we’ve been in an extreme drought. So much so, the cholla cacti and sage brush started to die off. It became so depressing, I had stopping hiking in the foothills.
Alas, last week I decide to head into the hills to see if the rain had changed the conditions. I was pleasantly surprised by what I found covering the desert floor: it was a lovely green carpet.
