Albuquerque’s International Balloon Fiesta begins tomorrow morning! It’s a magnificent event, making every morning during the weeklong festival a magical morning.
Before sunrise, thousands of people gather in a field waiting for “mass ascension.” As the colorful balloons start to fill with hot air, the typically brisk morning starts to warm from the gas burners.
Then, once the sun peeks over the Sandia Mountains, hundreds of balloons rise and dot the sky. Some are illuminated by the sunlight.
Eventually, the balloons float into the now bright blue sky, leaving the spectators to enjoy the rest of the already good morning.
Beautiful!!
Oh, my favorite collection! Awesome!
Glad you can enjoy it!
One year I am going to make it there for the Balloon Festival — I’ve wanted to since college. I had a friend from Albuquerque — but have lost track of her!
Thanks Becca. The balloon fiesta is one of those “musts” in life. I hope you relocate your friend and will come to the “Land of Enchantment” to enjoy the balloons.
